Four Seasons

Four Seasons
Seasons
A season is a period of time during the year. There are four seasons in one year: spring, summer, fall, and winter.

Seasons Around the World
When it is summer in one part of the world, it could be winter in another!

How Long Is a Season?
Each season is about three months long. The seasons change slowly, going from spring to summer to fall to winter, and back to spring again.

Seasons Change
In some parts of the word, the weather changes when the seasons change. The types of plants that bloom and the behavior of animals also can change from one season to the next.

Spring
In some parts of the world, the weather gets warmer when spring arrives, helping to melt away winter’s snow and ice. In spring, the days grow longer, which means it stays light outside later into the evening. In spring, many flowers start blooming. Trees that have rested all winter long begin growing leaves and opening buds. Spring often brings lots of rainy days, which are good for helping plants grow. Birds, frog, and many other animals are born in spring. It’s also a busy time for honeybees, which buzz from flower to flower collecting the nectar they need to make honey.

 Summer
In some parts of the world, summer arrives in late June, and it’s hot sunny outdoors. The days grow even longer than the days in spring. In some places, it stays light outside all through the night!
In the summer, many trees are covered with big green leaves. Grass grows tall this time year. Bees and butterflies land on the flowers and fruits plants to collect nectar.

Autumn
In fall/autumn the weather gets cooler and the sun sets earlier in the day. When the day gets shorter and it begins to chilly outside, some animals know that it’s time to start gathering nuts and berries to eat during the cold winter months. In some places, leaves start to change colours in autumn. As the weather gets even colder, these leaves will fall from the trees and turn brown and crispy.

Winter
By the time winter arrives in some part of the world, autumn’s colourful leaves have fallen and the trees are bare. During winter, frost often appears on the grass in the morning. It can get very windy, snowy and icy. Ponds and lakes may freeze and turn to ice. Winter days are very short . The sun sets early in the evening and without the sun ‘s light to warm the air, the temperature gets colder.
